Let's Do This!
Welcome to You Are the Beef – the place where life’s stories, lessons, and laughter meet. If you’ve ever wondered about the highs and lows of navigating this crazy fucking world, or if you’re searching for a place that offers wisdom with a bit of piss-taking, you’ve come to the right spot.
Who Am I?
I’m Keith, a storyteller, musician, taxi driver, and accidental philosopher. I’ve worn many hats in my lifetime (and a few questionable hairstyles too), but each chapter of my journey has shaped the person behind this website and the books I’ve written. Let me take you on a little tour of my life.
The Music Years
Back in the day, I was the bass player in two legendary punk bands: The Anti-Nowhere League and The Last Resort. Those days were loud, raw, and unforgettable.
From packed gigs to wild tours, I played alongside some of the most talented (and rowdy) people you could imagine.
When I wasn’t on stage with these icons, I was jamming with my local bands: The Plum Helmets, Dodgems of Desire, Tsunami, The Raunch Corporation, Patrick Moore And The Satargazers, Gnarly Pig Hair, and The One and Only. Each band added its unique flavour to my musical journey.
Music gave me the chance to see the world. I’ve travelled to over 20 countries, soaking in different cultures, cuisines, and chaotic airport experiences. It also taught me that no matter where you go, the thrill of connecting with people—whether through the guitar or a story—is universal.
The Present Day
Now, I call the quirky seaside town of Margate home, where I live with my partner (aka my misses, but not my wife) and our three mischievous adorable cats.
Life is a mix of quiet moments and creative chaos. By day, I’m a taxi driver, cruising the streets, meeting all kinds of characters, and gathering stories.
By night, I’m either writing or dreaming of fishing trips.
Speaking of fishing, it’s one of my biggest passions. I even have a dedicated website, Bassmasters Elite, where I share my love for the sport.
Whether it’s casting a lure or reeling in a big one, fishing has taught me patience, persistence, and the importance of the right bait—both in life and on the water.
The Birth of You Are the Beef
I wrote my book, You Are the Beef, during long nights in the taxi. Between fares and endless cups of coffee, the words started flowing. The book’s title is a playful nod to the idea that we’re all the main ingredients in our own lives. It’s a blend of stories, observations, and a little bit of self-help (even though I’m not entirely convinced self-help books actually work).
The overwhelming response to You Are the Beef inspired me to launch this website. It’s more than just a platform for my books; it’s a space to share insights, recommend life-changing reads, and connect with people who love a good laugh and a fresh perspective.
Why Audible Rocks (and Why You Should Try It)
If there’s one thing I highly recommend, it’s Audible. Listening to audiobooks has been a game-changer for me. Whether I’m on a long taxi shift or relaxing at home, audiobooks keep my mind engaged and my curiosity alive. Some of my favourite listens include Robert Greene’s The Art of Seduction and David Goggins Can’t Hurt Me: If that don’t get you motivated then nothing will. These books not only entertain but also offer nuggets of wisdom—even if I’m still figuring out how to apply them.
Through this website, I’ll be sharing book recommendations regularly. If you haven’t tried Audible yet, I’ll help you get started with links to some of the best reads (or listens) out there. Trust me, it’s worth it.

My Philosophy
Life isn’t about chasing perfection; it’s about embracing the imperfections that make us human. I’ve had my share of triumphs and failures, and each experience has taught me something valuable. Whether I’m writing, fishing, or just chatting with a passenger in my cab, I try to live with curiosity, humour, and a sense of purpose.
